The mask

Published on TSYM Magazine.
I gave her a mask instead of an expression.

The mask was never about hiding. It was about removing the one thing every portrait depends on — the eyes — and asking what’s left when you take it away. A mouth that still speaks. Hands that still hold something. The camera she carries is not a prop. It’s a question: who is doing the looking here, her or you? Shot in Athens, this is a portrait built on absence — and what the body says when the face can’t.
