The macro lens doesn’t flatter. It tells the truth.
Beauty photography, when it is done without fear, is the most intimate thing a camera can do. There is nowhere to hide at this distance — no wide angle to use as an escape, no negative space to retreat into. Just skin, light, texture, and the precise emotional temperature of a face that knows it is being seen. This series is a study in all three. Shot with a macro lens after a long return to beauty work, it reminded me why I fell in love with this kind of image in the first place: the detail that changes everything. The pore. The pigment. The thing the eye misses and the lens does not.
